What to say about Ha Long bay... It's just a wonderful peaceful place. I did a cruise of two days and kayak too. It's an amazing place with its calm water and all the green atolls popping out of it certainly worth going if you are in Vietnam. I would go back anytime.

The Ha Long bay is magnificent and we enjoyed our visit.However the site is overly exploited... there are hundreds of large boats leaving at the same time, parking in the same spot...Activities feel rushed (30min kayak, 30min commercial pearl farm, 60min cave walk). The water is polluted and we avoided going for a swim. The „beach » is tiny and overcrowded. We did see plenty of trash and plastic floating in the bay... Lavender cruise felt very commercial... the crew seems to be motivated to sell more drinks, or pearls on shore... Ha long bay is for sure very impressive but the overall experience was mixed because of the pollution, and over exploitation of the site.

If you are visiting Vietnam as a tourist and not seen the Ha Long Bay than you have not seen the Vietnam. One of the most beautiful and attractive place of Vietnam. Number of tourists are much more than I expected. Most water scenic place I have ever seen in my life. A full night tour by cruise is marvellous, you can enjoy a sun set and sun rise in the trip. Foods on board are very good specially the seafood.

This place is fantastic.. I wish I could be here for all eternity in the peace and quiet.. I traveled with Rosa boutique cruises.. was a very enjoyable trip.. do try it out you won't regret it.. it's the best thing to do while in Vietnam.. there are rumours that there won't be any overnight cruises in a few years... So hurry and visit while you can

Ha Long Bay is one of the most beautiful places I have been to. The nature is breath taking. It is full of limestone islets so a boat trip is a must to explore more areas. The problem is that it is overcrowded so I recommend spending some time to pick a good cruise/boat which takes you to untouched areas.

Ha Long Bay is without a doubt a beautiful feature of different isles and it is quite breathtaking. Unfortunately the area is overly exploited with boats and tourism. Nevertheless it was a stunning and once in a life time experience.

Probably the highlight of Hanoi, if not Vietnam as a whole! This place is amazing. Our organised tour through Ha Long Bay was incredible. I really recommend kayaking - it was a great experience. The water is so clean and the beaches are spotless Truely a great experience and definitely will be back!

Ha Long bay is a UNESCO Heritage site and the most visited place both of the Vietnamese as well as the foreigner. Must see...P.S. Better to stay one night at Ha long. Its very crowded especially in weekend and Holidays.

Impressed by this Bay!!!! Make sure to book a boat tour with overnight! Spend your night on the boat and wake up in the middle of the fantastic halong bay. Clear water, amazing landscape!! Must see! For me this was Top 1 in Vietnam!

There are no words to describe how beautiful Ha long bay us. A UNESCO World Heritage site. Emerald coloured waters and thousands of towering limestone islands covered with dense forest. I would recommend an overnight cruise trip here. This place is worth a visit.

Beautiful place. A boat trip through the area (or lan ha) is a must do in Vietnam. On a day trip you'll see a lot of areas and make a stop or two before heading back. On one night tours, you'll go deeper in the bay and there is more time to enjoy relaxing on the sun deck and see sunrise / sunset. On two night stays, there's an extra day of additional stops like kayaking, floating villages, pearl farm and do forth. I enjoyed and recommend a two night stay.

Beautiful place to visit. The cave is great and many place for taking great pictures. The boat ride gonna take between 3-5hours or more depend on the package optionBut the boat basically will stop by in a few places, cave, some place to shop for fish and seafood for your lunchIts a great place to visit, just make sure its not during rainy season

Great place to visit. Definitely recommend going to the non tourist side of the ha long bay. Only some companies have permits to cruise there, which is worth looking into.

They filmed King Kong here so the locals call it King Kong island at times. Beautiful scenery. Tourist attraction type of place. We all had to wear the bright orange life jacket making us an easy target as tourists. The bus from the hotel in the city is entertaining but long. It’s exhausting to sit on the bus that long. The traffic of course is crazy! Rent a motorcycle and ride yourself around. It’s much more fun. Everyone will avoid you if you are incorrectly operating your motorcycle or not know where you are going. The motorcycle rental was only $5 U.S. dollars per day. I had to surrender my passport during the rental period. Easy enough. That’s their way of making sure they get their motorcycle back. The rainy season can be interesting. Flooded everywhere, but only for a few hours a day.

Beautiful, but make sure you get a good company for the tour as that makes a difference. You can do the tour from several places. We chose Cat Ba and it is not very busy so it was nice as we saw the south of Ha Long and Lon Ha Bay.

The most beautiful bay I've ever visited. beautiful experience.Dragon legend cruise is a great choice. Very friendly boat staff and rooms are Indochina style with jacuzzi and bay views. Really perfect. I've seen plenty of couples on their honeymoon and I'm sure this is one of the great romantic places for couples. Only negative: I was traveling alone.

My wife and I explored Ha Long Bay over a day on a cruise. Beautiful surroundings, it's exactly as you would see it in the movies. Stopping at pit stops and climbing to admire nature's work was incredible.

One of the most beautiful landscape on earth. It is always full of tourists though. Going on a 2 day 1 night cruise would be the best option to see the unique islands and rock formations.

This is the highlight of our Vietnam tour. The view was breathtakingly beautiful! It is worth a visit in your lifetime. Take the kayak ride with the local ladies, they are very tough women, able to take photos with one hand and control the kayak with the other!

fantastic place, so beautiful and peaceful. Get on a tour and stay the night or two on a big boat where you can meet new people or have your group all together. At night was the best for me as every boat was anchored sitting on a lounge chair you listing to the water and echos. Meals are given on the boat as part of the tour and the beds were ok.recommend highly to venture to Ha Long Bay as it will be an adventure of a life time.

Lovely views. You can spend a day looking at beautiful scenery without getting bored. Natural beauty everywhere you see it. One of the best places I have visited. You also get to visit the caves and islands if you have taken one of the tours. Not disappointed with anything at this place. Must visit if you are around.

Best cruise experience. Lovely nature and karst views. I would do it again and longer 2 days, 3 nights next time. Unforgettable experience and not to be missed if you happen to go to Hanoi. Book a cruise around Ha Long Bay on a clear blue sunny day and you will remember it for the rest of your life. Truly mind-blowing beauty, great atmosphere and sense of occasion. Ha Long Bay is a UNESCO listed site and for good reason too

Amazing site in Vietnam. Definitely a must see. I recommend that you take your cruise from Cat Ba and sail to Healing baie ( if you need some quite and to be far from tourism). We booked two day, one night trip in the baie , was really amazing. The boat capacity was for 20 people, small boat, personnalized experience.

Very beautiful. If possible do an overnight cruise that allows you to visit sunrise and sunset and visit the island. Price of the cruises can range significantly. Go during good weather and be awarded with amazing views.

Went here as part of a tour group staying overnight on a boat. Breathtaking views and great atmosphere I'd say it's a must do if going to Vietnam. My phone camera does not do the actual views justice

A very beautiful place. We took one night sailing, and while it was very nice, I think looking back it could be nicer just to take a day trip there and maybe spend some more time on the island. The ship sailing mostly focused on food and rest and in practice we made only one short bamboo ship ride to the area of the islands. All other activities were in the open sea. Also, the ship stayed most of the time in the same spot, which was beautiful, but could be more interesting to travel around the area.

One of the best place in Vietnam to enjoy the life in silence. Far away from all tension and traffic you will love the bay and it's soundings. There are many cruise service which you take you either for a day trip or for 2 day trip. It's awesome to see and do some other activities like bamboo baiting, kayaking, swimming etc. Sunset & sunrise is beautiful from cruise.

Beautiful place, must visit place in Vietnamese if you are nature lover. The view was amazing, with blue green color of sea water and gorgeous lime stone island. The kayaking and bamboo boat experience are unforgetable, i suggest you take more that 1 day tour to enjoy more the area because they have different route and place to visit. But if you just want only to know about the place, one day tour is enough.

Ha Long Bay is a collection of thousands of islands, and the undulating water reveals beautiful marble slabs, as if they are layered on top of each other to form magical lines. Covering an area of 1,553 square kilometers of water, Halong Bay is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a popular tourist destination in Vietnam. Definitely recommend taking a cruise for three days and two nights.

I booked a tour to go there , a tour lasting 6 hours with really good visit , starting from ha long bay cruise , I after been to the cave and having a kayak cruise we finally ended the tour with a meal , everything looking stunning , it s so pretty . And the tour guide was really kind and explain a lot about the place .it was such a good journey

It’s a must visit to see all this beauty up close! We booked a one night tour (Victory Cruise) with balcony and enjoyed every second it! It’s just nature at its best with green mountains popping up from the sea as far as your eyes can see!

Breathtaking experience. It was another level all together.We stayed over night in the cruise.We boarded the ship, went to caves, been to ti top island.We had cooking activity in the cruise night. Our cruise was surrounded by the other cruise and the view was breathtaking in the evening. Had all the facilities inside the cruise.It might be very difficult for vegetarians to survive. Need to rely only on Bread Jam.

A must visit if you are coming to Vietnam. I'd recommend a couple of days in Ha Long Bay, the city itself is nice and the boat tours you can do are well worth the money. I caught overcast and foggy weather and still really enjoyed myself. I Imagine the views are breathtaking when the sun is out.

This is an absolute must-visit destination in Vietnam. The scenery is truly breathtaking. Joining a boat trip allows you to witness the limestone formations and explore fascinating caves. You'll even have the opportunity to visit a few smaller islands, where you enjoy the stunning beaches and breathtaking views. I hope I'll be able return soon.

It is a place with a very beautiful view. You have to go by cruise which can be one day or trip or one with an overnight stay.They provide food inside the cruise as per your requirements.Kayaking is an activity that everyone does there. The water is so clean and the tour guides are also very informative, helpful and kind.A must go place for everyone

Clearly one of Vietnam's natural treasures, Halong Bay is a must-visit natural attraction. Most people go for an extended tour, taking a boat around the Bay, and staying for a rather lengthy period. It's worth it. There are nearby caves and all sorts of interesting geological phenomenon. Afterward, there are plenty of restaurants and local places to get snacks. Easiest to access from Hanoi by rented car, although there are many buses that will take you there from the city, a 3-4 hour trip.

Beautiful nature creation with a very beautiful view. We booked 2 days 1 night cruise package.Lunch , Dinner and breakfast is provided on cruise as per your preference. Activities includes kayaking , swimming and cave tour.It’s located far from Hanoi City and they offer a car or bus ride from / to Hanoi city / Halong bay.Other option for stay is day tour and 3 days 2 night package. Splendid. Breathtaking. Marvellous. A true wonder that is not to be missed.I totally recomment the 2 days/ 1 night cruise at least to fully enjoy the setting.Paid 128$ for the cruise everything included except drinks...and you get a lot of food.You get to visit a cave, go to a small island beach and viewpoint. Learn to cook spring rolls. Fish in the sea. And in the morning you will visit a pearl farm and enjoy kayaking in the bay.A mesmerizing experience.

Great cruise ship with lots of activities but the sea has been ruined! So much rubbish floating around that some wouldn’t swim in it. Such a shame this beautiful place is being destroyed by us humans who prefer to throw rubbish overboard!

Beautiful and must visit spot!Choose you’re cruise carrier carefully.The water in the bay aren’t very clean and clear as expected. And the ones who jumped in to swim ended up smelling bad.It’s a beautiful nature phenomenon that is a must go to in North Vietnam.Staying on a ship for the night was really special and made our wake-up moment in front of the mountains unforgettable

Beautiful scenery. The places to explore around the bay are worth it. Most people have to do the tour to get around the bay. For me personally, there are times there are too many people in certain sites that you have to be in line to experience the sights such as going inside the cave.

One of the most stunning natural landscapes in the world! I grew up in British Columbia where thousands of treed and beachless islands jut up out of jagged coastline, but not like this. Nothing like this. Warm tropical air, lush jungles, and the sound of monkeys and birds drifting across the serene waters all while surrounded by thousands of absolutely colossal Islets is like being transported to another time and place.I would HIGHLY recommend doing an overnight cruise to really take in the sunsets and sunrises in this magical place.

I booked a tour through the hotel I stayed at in Hanoi. The drive there was calm, and not too long, just about 2 hours. We took a boat out to the islands. There was a pearl shop tour before the boat, which has a lot of nice jewelry. Lunch was served on the boat, and then they took us kayaking. I would recommend this for sure.

Very beautiful world's natural heritage. They maintain also well. Recent update is we are not allowed to take plastic water bottle to avoid environmental damage. Take your non plastic water bottle as on cruise bottle will cost more.

What a beautiful place but almost ruined by too many tourist boats and trash. I’d recommend doing this if you’ve never been and sticking to 1 night instead of 2.

We took one day tour to Ha Long Bay. After getting on board of cruise we had lunch which was good and after that we stopped at one island where there was option of hiking or swimming. We did hiking which was tough and excruciating but view from above was worth it. After that second stop was there where there was option of Kayaking or Bamboo boat and we chose Kayaking which was awesome experience and last stop was the caves. Caves were fabulous and worth seeing.

I terribly regret, like others, having participated in this.What could be the impact of hundreds of ships that drop anchor every day in the middle of the seabed of Ha Long Bay which was recognized twice by UNESCO as a World Natural Heritage site !Mass tourism should be more regulated.An exceptional site which is crisscrossed every day by hundreds of hotel-disco boats, carrying thousands of people on organized trips.Absolutely avoid if you like places that aren't too busy and still authentic.Such a site deserves to be preserved from mass tourism.In addition, we must consider the fact that few people like to meet in hundreds or thousands in remarkable places.

The cruise was well organized and very prompt. Vietnamese cuisine and local delicacies were served. Hot outside but the cruise has good air conditioning. The trip was very well planned and executed but I’m afraid the scenery, crystal clear water, beach and over all swimming experience is better in Coron, Philippines.One day trip is enough (and recommended) more than an over night cruise stay. Good for the whole family and such a memorable experience.

Will give it 5 star, its a must do tour in vietnam. We did an overnight cruise and it was totally worth it, we were provided awesome food and great hospitality. If you are a nature lover and love being around water, then you should definitely consider going there.

Gorgeous UNESCO site. Went on a 2D1N cruise but I think the activities can be covered within a day. Kayaking is definitely a must to enjoy the beautiful nature!

Went as part of our tour. It was an overnight stay on a boat out quite some distance in the bay. It is a stunning area and the trip through the many islands is amazing. I would recommend an overnight stay on a boat as we found the staff excellent in every way. On our boat we had great food and a cooking demonstration which we found participate in. The highlight was actually just sitting on the top deck with our other tour members just watching the sun set and then seeing all the other tour boats ( and there were many) with their lights on in the dark.

Definitely one of the must visit places in Vietnam. The views are amazing and unique. I suggest you book overnight cruises to have the best time there. These cruises take you to multiple beaches, caves, kayaking and other activities. 3 times Food and stay is included. Use Klook to book these tours which pick you and drop you back to Hanoi city

Totally worth it! You should come here whenever you have the chance to visit Vietnam! The scenery is so beautiful. You can have lunch in the boat, then take smaller boats to see the caves. It’s breathtaking!

Famous area. A day cruise is sufficient to see everything, unless you want to experience sleeping on a boat. We did a day cruise from Hanoi hosted by Vietnam Tonkin Tours and it was great

This was one of the the attractions I was most anticipating. Was unlucky with the overcast weather and absence of the standard warmth of the season. Still the boat cruise was smooth, with non obstructed views due to the off season. Would return again, in the peak season as the views with the weather would be magnificent

So amazing place to visit to see nature! To see how the limestone cliffs just go straight up from the sea is magnificent! So much different to see while cruising between them, and you can go for an option of kayaking between them, that was so amazing even though we were a little bit unlucky with the weather!

From Hanoi it took 2.5 hours to reached Ha Long Bay by car.The time spent in travelling from Hanoi to Ha Long Bay was worth it.You can choose overnight tour or day tour!Ha Long Bay is beautiful!Make sure to visit if you are in Vietnam.

Stunning landscape. We had a wonderful cruise combined with kayaking, boat tour and other activities. One of the most beautiful places we've ever visited. The only negative is the amount of litter tourists leave behind, which is a shame.

Ha Long Bay is one of the most beautiful places in Vietnam. I was so impressed by the islands even when our cruise ship entered the bay. So many beautiful rocks and islands seem to pop up from the ocean. It is even better when we have a local cruise boat that can bring us up close to those islands, and our activities are delightful and fun.

This was one of the highlights of my visit to Vietnam. The bay is extraordinarily beautiful. As the day goes on and the angel of the sun changes, the light can make the scenery come alive. The caves, beaches and the climb to the peak all provide fantastic scenery.

Incredible beautiful bay on the Eastside of Vietnam.Can easily be connected with a visit to Hanoi or Haiphong city during your travels.Its quite recommendable to book an overnight boat tour - mornings in the bay with a swim are incredible.

Amazing natural place where your eyes will be astonished by the rocks, waves, and their combination that made your mind peaceful! Recommend attending one of the guided tour as they will provide guidance, food, and bring you to different islands. If you have more time, then stay there for at least one night on the cruise!!

A beautiful paradise on earth.. it has got 1969 limestone mountains that you can visit... Kayaking can be done.. cruise on the ship. May be stay overnight... Visit the amazing caves, it has got 3 chambers.. 3rd one is one of the biggest in the world.. you got uphill to trek.. a nice beach to take a swim... One thing i didn't like is the commercialization and the rude behaviour of the boys who hand over the photos taken inside the cave.. you see a sign board stating a free gift available (A small key chain with your photo on it). Towards your exit, you'll have few boys trying to sell u a A5 photo of yours and charge 10$. Pure scam !!! Avoid that and you can still collect you Free Key chain photo. ..

Incredibly amazing! Make sure to visit this place for sunset with a experienced agency.. but also do carry some food if you are a vegetarian. Views are incredible and when you hike up to the mountain it looks even more surreal.. for kayaking it is included in the package when you take one from Hanoi. Please do check with your vendor for all the inclusions before booking a package

Writing a review for the bay is hard, because the views and natural scenery are no doubt 10/10, but the 500 boats trying to get to the same destinations take away from that.If possible, I'd recommend taking a scenic cruise which doesn't make any stops and you can stay on the boat for the day.
